Oh gosh, there are quite a lot but the one that immediately springs to mind is this BBC documentary series called “Wild China” where (from the two episodes I watched) it’s a wildlife and conservation series with gorgeous cinematography but jesus christ the commentary about the people of China just came off as patronizing and horrible. Dunno if other Asian American folks who watched it would like to weigh in (it’s free streaming on Netflix last time I checked) but the narration left a horrible aftertaste. Other stuff… a LOT of anthropology articles written from a Western perspective that don’t take time to be respectful, that upcoming movie “The Man With The Iron Fists” and “Memoirs of a Geisha” (christ talk about your stereotypes of Asian women) and as much as I adore Pat Morita and hate to say it, the old “Karate Kid” movies, which are at their core, the coming of age of a white kid using conventinal “Asian wisdom” to get there- could have easily just as been about a kid POC and still been “all-American” (which is why I freaking LOVED the remake with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith!) Basically any piece of media that superimposes bullshit unrealistic representations of culture designed for a Western audience packaged in a “but this is about Asia!!!!111!!oneone!” box
